Prescribed Burn Notice

A 100-acre prescribed fire within the Jordan Scrub Sanctuary  is planned from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 22 by Brevard County’s Environmentally Endangered Lands Program with assistance from the Florida Forest Service, Brevard County Fire Rescue and Malabar Fire Rescue.

The Jordan Scrub Sanctuary is located at 2425 Marie Street, the burn will be conducted in the northwest corner of the property, near the intersection of Hall Rd and Marie St..

Prescribed fires involve the careful application of fire by professionals under specific weather and fuel conditions to achieve environmental resource management goals.  Benefits include the reduction of wildfire risk, habitat restoration and the recycling of nutrients back into the soil.
