Prescribed Burn Notice

A 92-acre prescribed fire within the Jordan Scrub Sanctuary is planned from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16th by Brevard County’s Environmentally Endangered Lands Program.

The Jordan Scrub Sanctuary is located west of US 1 and east of Marie Street south of Malabar Rd. in the town of Malabar.

Prescribed fires involve the careful application of fire by professionals under specific weather and fuel conditions to achieve environmental resource management goals.  Benefits include the reduction of wildfire risk, habitat restoration and the recycling of nutrients back into the soil.
